Welcome, dear
readers, to the last issue of Crossroads Blues. It is with great sadness that we announce such news.
No, the blues
will never die; but it is certainly facing tough times. This site’s goal was to share the love of the music and feature
interviews from great blues songwriters and the behind-the-scenes people that deserved some attention. Unfortunately, our
readership has dwindled significantly and, along with our personal musical careers, it was no longer feasible to keep things
going.
We want to thank
each and every one of you loyal readers for stopping by each month. We thank you for your comments and suggestions and we
urge you – please support your local blues artists – they need you. We all need you.
We don’t
want to make this a depressing read, but we thought we’d pass along some more sad news. For over 14 years, Café Campus
in Montreal has presented a stellar Wednesday night blues series – featuring local and international artists at a wallet-friendly
price. Sadly, the series will come to an end this December 20th. This is terrible news for Montreal blues fans
and the touring artists themselves because it is one of the best rooms in Canada to catch a blues show. The atmosphere, sound
and just overall vibe were unequalled.
Next time you
go out to catch a blues band, just remember that they’re doing it out of the love of the music – not for the money.
There are many, many better (and easier) ways to make money! Buy their CD if you can. They will greatly appreciate your support.
Besides the artists
we have already featured here at Crossroads Blues, we had our focus on many other great songwriters that we would have liked
to share with you in the future. Here is a short list:
